my favorite panels in yotsuba&! are the landscape shots
all the shots are of perfectly ordinary places — rural outskirts, urban areas, fields in nature — but they aren’t drawn as mundane. they’re drawn as grandiose and wondrous, enormous next to the small figures that are always in them, almost like the characters are on a big adventure in every issue
and, in a child’s mind, every day is a big adventure, and every familiar landscape is huge and full of hidden wonders
and that yotsuba&! can capture that childish spirit so well is what makes it so incredible
